  • Welcome to the Sacramento Map Project

Posted by John Lockwood on May 25th, 2007

The Sacramento Map Project is a software development and web site project that is dedicated to being the premier resource for maps and mapping data for Sacramento (City, County, and the Greater Sacramento area).   If it has to do with Sacramento area maps or map data, it’s here, or it should be.   Readers are cordially invited to submit:

    • URLs of related sites that contain maps of the area.
    • Information about map “mashups” or request for Sacramento map mashups.
    • Proposals for guest articles about local neighborhoods, cities, etc.  — anything with a place name.

In addition to being a resource for area map data, we intend to be an active publisher of Sacramento area mashups.

      Very interesting concept.

Thanks — yes, it’s pretty open ended as far as how it could evolve, which is good but the trick is going to be choosing my battles as far as what to publish and implement. The maps themselves are fairly easy to do — the difficult part is doing the right ones and doing the right front end to them to make them more interesting to users.
